About the Role
Based at the NOAA Galveston Deep Sea Coral Laboratory, this position supports the daily operation of the coral culture facility and the care of the marine organisms it houses. Working under the direction of the Program Manager and alongside aquaculture staff, you'll help coordinate husbandry, propagation, and applied research activities while taking a leading part in studies of coral diseases and other harmful agents. This opportunity is contingent on contract award, and U.S. citizenship is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate routine operations of the coral culture and propagation facility
- Maintain the health and proper husbandry of cultured marine organisms
- Lead or play a central role in laboratory investigations of coral diseases and other deleterious agents
- Work closely with the Program Manager and assigned aquaculture team members
- Support data collection and documentation tied to ongoing propagation and culture studies
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship (a firm requirement for this position)
- Hands-on experience with aquaculture, coral culture, or marine organism husbandry consistent with a Level III coordinator role
- Familiarity with laboratory practices for studying organism health, disease, and harmful agents
- Ability to work collaboratively under program leadership in a research-driven environment
- Willingness to work on-site in West Galveston, Galveston County
