About the Role

Latham & Watkins advises leading companies and financial institutions shaping the global economy. As a Business Development Specialist focused on new business development, you'll be instrumental in identifying growth opportunities, building relationships with prospective clients, and supporting our attorneys in winning mandates across our practice areas. You'll work directly with partners and senior professionals in a fast-paced environment where your efforts directly impact firm expansion and client acquisition.

What You'll Do

• Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify promising business development prospects and emerging opportunities
• Build and maintain a pipeline of potential clients, referral sources, and strategic relationships across Los Angeles County and beyond
• Support proposal development, pitch materials, and client presentations working closely with practice group leadership
• Coordinate relationship management activities and track business development metrics and outcomes
• Gather market intelligence on industry trends and client needs to inform firm strategy
• Assist with events, networking activities, and client engagement initiatives

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree with strong academic background; advanced degree or relevant professional experience preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to engage executives and decision-makers
• Self-directed and results-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and relationships simultaneously
• Demonstrated interest in business development, sales, or client-facing work in a professional services environment
• Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and business intelligence tools
• Knowledge of the legal industry, financial services, or corporate advisory space is a plus
