About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential public sector technology consultancy based in Mainz, Germany. Our client is seeking a Public Sector Consultant to help shape the digital transformation of government services across federal, state, and municipal levels.

This role offers the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in Germany or from the Mainz office, with a hybrid model available.

Responsibilities

• Lead and shape IT consulting projects within the consulting unit for public sector clients
• Guide government organizations through digital transformation initiatives and implementation projects
• Support the design of strategies, organizational structures, and processes for public authorities at federal, state, and municipal levels
• Collaborate with project teams to gather client requirements and develop innovative solution strategies and concepts
• Accompany the introduction of new IT solutions from preparation through piloting, testing, and successful go-live
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement through workshops, information sessions, office hours, and training programs
• Prepare complex content into accessible formats including guidelines, handbooks, and documentation for committee involvement
• Plan post-go-live activities including support, hypercare, user feedback, and transition to stable operational structures
• Engage in continuous professional development through training and team knowledge transfer

What We're Looking For

• Completed degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Administrative Informatics, Law, Business Informatics, or another relevant background that qualifies you for this field
• Initial practical experience in consulting or IT project management; experience with public administration is particularly valuable
• Strong understanding of project planning and management; familiarity with PMFlex is ideal or willingness to learn quickly
• Excellent communication skills and ability to guide diverse users and stakeholders through change processes
• Ability to present complex content clearly and concisely in various formats
• Technical understanding and interest in system implementation topics including configuration, interfaces, data migration, customizing, and functional/technical testing
• Forward-thinking approach to post-implementation support and service management
• Interest in public sector digitalization and how modern IT services are successfully introduced in public organizations
• Knowledge of administrative digitalization frameworks, data protection, or IT service management is a plus, but willingness to learn these topics is most important
• Fluency in German is required for this position
