Communications Test Engineer I

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential aerospace technology client seeking a Communications Test Engineer I for their Milton Keynes, United Kingdom location. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge satellite communication systems, focusing on integration and verification of space-communication hardware and software.

In this position, you will take ownership of testing and validation for advanced communication systems involving both digital and analogue components. You'll develop test frameworks for modem and link verification at baseband and RF levels, working closely with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure system performance meets rigorous specifications.

Responsibilities

• Define, design, implement, and maintain measurement and test solutions for link and modem validation
• Define and analyze calibration and metrology aspects, including statistical error analysis, confidence levels, and error budgets
• Develop modular, reusable software in Python or similar languages for implementation across various test setups
• Analyze and troubleshoot link-performance issues systematically
• Collaborate with DSP, hardware, and software teams to improve overall system performance

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics
• 2+ years of experience with RF measurement and instrumentation
• 2+ years of programming experience using Python

Preferred Experience:

• Hands-on digital and RF measurement experience with analyzers, vector signal generators, power sensors, and network analyzers
• Hands-on link-performance measurement experience with link/protocol testers and channel emulators
• Knowledge of physical-layer satellite modem algorithms and standards (DVB-S2, CCSDS)
• Experience in collaborative software design including GIT and code reviews
• Test automation experience
• Linux and Windows proficiency
• Statistical analysis and metrology skills
