Role Overview
As an Auto Claims Representative at Sedgwick, you'll evaluate and resolve low to mid-level auto and transportation claims, from initial intake through final disposition. You'll assess vehicle damage, verify policy coverage, authorize payments, and guide claimants toward swift, equitable resolutions. This is independent work with real accountability—you'll manage multiple files simultaneously while collaborating with colleagues, clients, and external partners to uphold service standards and regulatory compliance.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Review and assess property damage and injury claims involving vehicles and transportation
- Evaluate repair estimates, conduct total loss valuations, and negotiate settlements with claimants and third parties
- Perform coverage and liability analysis to determine claim eligibility and limits
- Identify and pursue subrogation opportunities and manage salvage acquisition and disposal
- Prepare claim documentation, assign appropriate codes, and ensure all state-mandated filing deadlines are met
- Communicate claim decisions and progress to insureds, clients, agents, and brokers
- Maintain professional relationships and support departmental quality and compliance efforts
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university (preferred)
- Valid state adjusting license (required; candidate must secure and maintain as applicable)
- Knowledge of personal and commercial auto insurance coverage, policy terms, and endorsements
- Demonstrated ability to review, evaluate, and negotiate property damage estimates and total loss valuations
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex claim decisions clearly
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and general computer literacy
- Analytical and interpretive mindset with sound judgment and discretion
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Collaborative team orientation and strong interpersonal skills
