What This Role Involves

As a Childwatch Childcare Assistant, you'll support our dedicated childcare team by creating structured, developmentally appropriate activities and maintaining a secure, welcoming space where children thrive. You'll interact directly with children during program hours, building positive relationships while fostering their growth and confidence. This role combines hands-on supervision, program support, and a genuine commitment to child safety with a focus on creating memorable, enriching experiences.

Your Responsibilities

• Supervise children during Childwatch sessions, prioritizing safety and well-being at all times
• Design and lead age-appropriate activities, games, and structured play that engage children
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming childcare environment
• Respond to children's needs with patience and attentiveness
• Communicate openly with parents about their child's experiences and any concerns
• Support program staff with activity setup, cleanup, and documentation
• Uphold YMCA standards and childcare best practices

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience working with children in a childcare, educational, or youth program setting
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
• Patience, reliability, and a genuine enthusiasm for child development
• Willingness to complete background checks and required childcare certifications
• Commitment to consistent, dependable attendance
