About the Role
The Community Center Monitor serves as a key staff member in the day-to-day operations of GVRD's recreation facilities. You'll oversee activity areas, ensure facility rules are followed, and provide essential support that keeps our community centers running smoothly and safely. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with community members and takes pride in maintaining welcoming, well-organized spaces.
What You'll Do
- Monitor assigned facility areas and activity spaces during operating hours
- Greet patrons and direct them to appropriate programs and amenities
- Enforce facility rules and policies consistently and courteously
- Set up and take down equipment and furniture as needed for programs
- Report maintenance issues, safety concerns, and equipment damage to supervisors
- Assist with facility cleanliness and basic upkeep throughout shifts
- Support recreation staff during classes, events, and special programs
What We're Looking For
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to excellent customer service
- Ability to remain calm and professional in busy community environments
- Strong communication skills and genuine interest in serving the public
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and assist with equipment setup
- Willingness to enforce facility policies fairly and respectfully
- Available to work flexible part-time hours including evenings and weekends as scheduled

Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $19.25–$20.50 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
