Category Manager – Semiconductor Materials (f/m/d)

Our talent team is representing a confidential semiconductor technology organization based in Aachen, Germany. They are seeking a Category Manager – Semiconductor Materials to lead strategic sourcing and supplier management for materials critical to advanced manufacturing operations. This is an opportunity to drive procurement excellence in a cutting-edge technical environment.

In this role, you will take ownership of global sourcing strategies, supplier relationships, and cost optimization initiatives while ensuring continuity of supply and quality compliance across semiconductor material categories.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute global sourcing strategies for semiconductor materials, including wafers, photoresists, CMP slurries, specialty gases, chemicals, and other critical materials
• Identify, qualify, and manage strategic suppliers while ensuring alignment with technology roadmaps, quality standards, and production requirements
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and commercial terms to achieve cost targets while securing reliable supply
• Monitor semiconductor material markets, supplier performance, pricing trends, and supply chain risks to identify opportunities and mitigation strategies
• Collaborate with R&D, process engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to align material requirements with technology and production needs
• Support new product introductions by sourcing materials that meet emerging process requirements and scalability targets
• Drive cost optimization initiatives through supplier development, data analysis, and total cost of ownership improvements
• Manage procurement performance, supplier relationships, and reporting activities to support business objectives

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in supply chain management, engineering, physics, materials science, business, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management, preferably within semiconductors, electronics, or advanced manufacturing
• Proven experience negotiating contracts, managing suppliers, and driving cost optimization initiatives
• Strong understanding of semiconductor materials and processes, including wafers, specialty gases, chemicals, photoresists, lithography, etching, and metallization materials
• Strong analytical skills with experience using ERP/procurement systems and data analysis tools
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with fluent English; German language skills are considered an advantage
