Backend Developer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization that is building next-generation financial infrastructure across multiple markets. Our client is seeking a Backend Developer based in Germany to join their engineering team working on core platform systems that power digital banking products at scale.

This is a remote position for candidates already based in Germany. You'll work with a global, multicultural team building reliable backend services that support real customer transactions and operational workflows.

Responsibilities

• Build backend services and APIs for onboarding, accounts, payments, cards, transfers, rewards, KYC and risk flows
• Design reliable systems that support real customer transactions, operational workflows and future financial products
• Integrate with internal systems, financial partners, payment providers, AI services and third-party platforms
• Own backend quality across reliability, security, latency, observability, data integrity and incident handling
• Collaborate with product, frontend, mobile and AI teams to launch features quickly and safely
• Improve existing systems by simplifying flows, removing manual work and automating repeatable processes

What We're Looking For

• Strong backend engineering experience building production systems
• Solid understanding of APIs, databases, authentication, authorization, queues, jobs, events and integrations
• Experience building services used by real customers or internal operations at meaningful scale
• Strong debugging, reliability, security and data quality mindset
• Ability to make practical trade-offs between speed, correctness, scalability and maintainability
• Strong English communication skills for working with global teams
• Fintech, payments, banking, wallet, KYC, fraud or risk experience is a strong plus
• Must be based in Germany
