Associate Director , Commercial Strategy – Health

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential healthcare marketing agency with a focus on pharmaceutical commercialization. We're seeking an Associate Director to lead strategic engagements from early pipeline through launch and beyond. You will oversee cross-functional teams delivering insight-led commercial strategy work, including category leadership initiatives, clinical-to-commercial planning, competitive differentiation frameworks, evidence generation strategy, and scientific narrative development.

In this role, you'll manage project governance—scope, resourcing, risk, and budgets—while maintaining strong client partnerships. You'll translate business objectives into practical engagement roadmaps, lead primary research design and facilitation (advisory boards, workshops with KOLs, HCPs, patient advocates, policymakers), and synthesize findings into actionable strategic direction. You'll also mentor and supervise junior strategists, contribute to business development by identifying growth opportunities, and support proposals and pitches in collaboration with senior leadership.

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years in healthcare strategy, consulting, or closely related pharmaceutical/biotech roles
• Proven track record delivering commercialization strategy across multiple therapy areas, owning workstreams or smaller engagements independently
• Strong consultative skills: you can clarify client objectives and translate them into structured, deliverable work plans
• Leadership experience: you've supervised and developed junior team members through coaching, feedback, and line management
• Commercial acumen: you connect asset-level strategy to broader franchise, portfolio, and category narratives, and anticipate ecosystem and macro-environment dynamics
• Research expertise across secondary and primary methods; you design research objectives, discussion guides, and stimuli, and facilitate expert engagement
• Experience engaging external stakeholders (HCPs, KOLs, payers, patient advocates, policymakers) and translating their input into strategic recommendations
• Excellent strategic storytelling and slide craft—you build executive-ready decks with clear storylines, substantiated recommendations, and crisp visuals
• Strong program leadership: you manage dependencies, risks, and documentation quality with high proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
• Comfortable leveraging technology (including AI) to improve efficiency and rigor, with appropriate validation and governance
• Growth-oriented: you proactively identify opportunities to deepen client relationships and contribute to new business development
• Comfortable in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments; confident managing stakeholder issues and escalating when appropriate
