Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a confidential SaaS organization seeking a Principal AI Engineer in Bordeaux, France. This is a unique opportunity to lead AI strategy and engineering within a critical business domain for an established technology company that is actively building production AI systems at enterprise scale.

You will own the technical vision for AI initiatives within your domain (such as sales operations, marketing, or finance), driving both the architecture and adoption of AI systems that deliver measurable business impact. This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic influence—you'll work directly with business leaders to identify opportunities, define roadmaps, and build reliable AI products used by global enterprises.

This is a permanent (CDI) position requiring 4 days on-site per week in Bordeaux.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy and roadmap for AI systems within a strategic business domain
• Design and build production-grade AI systems including LLM-based applications, RAG systems, and AI agents
• Drive architecture decisions ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability of AI infrastructure
• Partner with business leaders and end users to identify high-value opportunities and measure adoption outcomes
• Establish technical excellence standards for evaluation, testing, guardrails, and observability across AI initiatives
• Mentor AI engineers and cross-functional team members to build organizational AI capability
• Review designs, promote best practices, and elevate quality across multiple initiatives
• Lead complex cross-functional projects that accelerate AI transformation within your domain

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years of experience in Software Engineering, ML Engineering, or Applied AI roles
• Strong hands-on experience with LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), AI agents, and production AI systems
• Demonstrated ability to influence product and business decisions at a strategic level
• Proven leadership on complex, cross-functional technical initiatives
• Technical proficiency with: Python, SQL, modern AI frameworks (LangGraph, LangChain, LlamaIndex), vector databases, and cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP)
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and building scalable AI infrastructure
• Track record of delivering measurable business impact through AI systems
• Ability to mentor engineers and grow technical capability within teams
• Strong communication skills for working with both technical and business stakeholders

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai: €90,000 – €100,000 annual gross salary. Final compensation will be determined based on your experience, skills, and the specific scope of responsibilities.
