The Opportunity

As Assistant Chef Manager at Farm Boy Inc., you'll oversee daily kitchen operations whilst supporting the Head Chef in menu development, staff leadership, and culinary innovation. This is a key role bridging hands-on cooking expertise with management responsibility, ideal for someone ready to advance their career in a professional foodservice environment.

Core Duties

• Lead and supervise kitchen staff, including scheduling, training, and performance management
• Assist in menu planning and recipe development that meets quality and cost standards
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain hygiene standards throughout the kitchen
• Monitor food costs, reduce waste, and manage inventory efficiently
• Prepare and plate food to consistent specifications, maintaining presentation standards
• Communicate with front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service delivery
• Troubleshoot operational issues and implement process improvements

Requirements

• Minimum 2–3 years of professional kitchen experience, with some supervisory or lead-role experience
• Food Handler Certificate or equivalent food safety qualification
• Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and culinary standards
• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team
• Excellent organisational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment
• Clear verbal and written communication skills
• Reliability and commitment to punctuality
