(2027 PhD/ABD graduates) Senior Associate (Antitrust & Competition Economics) – European Union

We are representing a confidential economics consulting firm seeking PhD graduates or ABD candidates completing in 2027 for a Senior Associate role focused on antitrust and competition economics. This position is based in Paris and offers immediate exposure to high-profile European competition cases.

Responsibilities

• Identify and conceptualize competition issues, specifying rigorous economic models to analyze market data and conduct statistical and econometric estimation
• Manage and supervise junior research staff, providing training and mentorship
• Develop client deliverables including expert reports and white papers summarizing economic analysis, conclusions, and recommendations
• Serve as primary point of contact for legal counsel and industry clients on practice-relevant matters
• Program and build economic models, performing regression analyses using statistical software such as Stata, Python, R, SAS, Matlab, or Mathematica
• Handle large data projects requiring cloud computing platforms
• Ensure integrity and accuracy of all economic analyses and expert opinions
• Contribute to knowledge-sharing activities including training, recruiting, and publication efforts

What We're Looking For

• PhD in Economics with completion date of December 2026 or Summer 2027, with academic focus on Applied Microeconomics or Applied Microeconometrics
• Specialization in industrial organization, labor economics, health economics, behavioral economics, public economics, or other quantitative areas
• Strong proficiency in Excel and at least one statistical programming language (Stata, Python, R, SQL, SAS)
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (Databricks/Spark, Google Cloud, Azure, AWS) is a plus
• Demonstrated ability to explain economic, financial, and accounting concepts clearly
• Creative analytical thinking and problem-solving approach to non-standard challenges
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and French
• Strong initiative, leadership qualities, and teamwork capabilities
• Excellent time management and task prioritization abilities
• Clear interest in economics consulting demonstrated through coursework, research, or work experience

Additional Requirements: Candidates should be prepared to submit a CV, covering letter, research/job market paper, and three letters of recommendation during the application process. Minimal travel is required as most work occurs in the office.
