CIMMYT, a global agricultural research organization, is seeking a dedicated Assistant Research Associate for Maize Product Development in Harare, Harare Province, Zimbabwe.

Role Overview

The Assistant Research Associate will play a critical role in advancing maize product development through research and innovation. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to sustainable agriculture practices and improve food security in Zimbabwe and beyond.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field trials and experiments to evaluate maize varieties under different environmental conditions.
• Develop and maintain detailed records of experimental data for analysis and reporting.
• Collaborate with team members to design and implement research projects aimed at improving maize productivity and resilience.
• Analyze data using statistical software to support decision-making in product development.
• Assist in the development of new maize products through genetic and agronomic research.

Requirements

• Completed a bachelor's degree in agricultural science, plant breeding, genetics, or a related field.
• Experience in agricultural research, particularly in maize breeding and genetics.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Familiarity with agricultural research methodologies and statistical analysis.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and statistical software.
