Senior data engineer

Join Bosch Group as a Senior Data Engineer in a remote, full-time role supporting our engineering operations from Budapest, HU. We're seeking an experienced data engineer to design, build, and maintain the data infrastructure that powers decision-making across our organisation.

Position Summary

As a Senior Data Engineer at Bosch Group, you'll own the architecture and implementation of scalable data systems that transform raw data into actionable insights for engineering teams. Working remotely from anywhere, you'll collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and engineering leaders to define data requirements, build robust pipelines, and ensure data quality standards across the enterprise. This full-time position offers the technical depth and strategic influence you'd expect at a senior level within Bosch Group's global engineering operations.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Design and implement data pipelines and ETL processes that ingest, transform, and load data from multiple sources into our analytics platforms
• Architect scalable data systems capable of handling high-volume, real-time, and batch data workloads
• Optimise database schemas, queries, and infrastructure to ensure query performance and cost efficiency
• Define and enforce data governance standards, including lineage tracking, quality checks, and access controls
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building a high-performing data platform team
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve the reliability and performance of data systems in production

What You Bring

• 7+ years of professional experience building production data systems, pipelines, and platforms
• Expert-level proficiency in one or more programming languages (Python, Scala, Java) and SQL
• Strong experience with distributed data processing frameworks (Spark, Hadoop) and cloud data platforms
• Proven track record designing and scaling data warehouses or data lakes
• Deep understanding of data architecture patterns, normalisation, and optimisation techniques
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and infrastructure-as-code practices
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
