Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential social-platform organization seeking a Senior Data Scientist with leadership responsibilities. This role combines hands-on analytics with team development in a part-time capacity.

Your day-to-day will include:

• Performing advanced data analysis using data mining, clustering, forecasting, and recommendation classification techniques on event data at scale
• Ensuring data quality and consistency across multiple systems
• Translating analytical findings into actionable strategic recommendations for product, community, and executive stakeholders
• Bridging quantitative analysis with qualitative user feedback to enable data-driven decision-making
• Providing technical and potentially formal leadership for a small data science team
• Establishing best practices including code reviews and documentation standards
• Partnering with senior leadership to define long-term data strategy and build a data-informed culture across the organization

What We're Looking For

Our client needs someone who can combine deep technical skills with business acumen and communication strength:

• Education: Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent qualification
• Business understanding: Ability to translate data insights into practical business value, recognize patterns, understand commercial implications, and think in product solutions—not just algorithms
• Communication: Skill in presenting complex findings clearly to non-technical audiences and confidence in challenging existing assumptions with data
• Leadership potential: Willingness to mentor, guide projects, and develop team members; formal leadership experience is a plus but not required
• Analytical strength: Quick comprehension, structured approach, and enthusiasm for analyzing large structured and unstructured datasets
• AI mindset: Routine use of AI tools (LLMs, Copilots) and ideas for applying AI to analytics or product features
• Technical stack: Strong SQL and Python (pandas, sklearn); experience with statistical analysis, databases, Excel/Google Sheets for visualization; solid machine learning knowledge (forecasting, clustering, classification); deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow)
• Languages: Fluent German (minimum C1) and working English required
• Nice-to-have: Java and Mixpanel experience
