About This Opportunity

We are representing a well-established conglomerate in the Caribbean region seeking skilled accounting professionals to join their finance team on a remote, independent contractor basis. This part-time engagement (8 hours per week) offers the flexibility to set your own schedule while supporting critical accounting operations across multiple business units.

Our client values accuracy, initiative, and professionalism. You'll work independently on assigned reconciliation and financial reporting tasks, with occasional live coordination with the core team in the Caribbean time zone (GMT-4).

Responsibilities

Your work will focus on maintaining financial accuracy and supporting the month-end close process. Responsibilities may include:

• Preparing and processing bank and cash reconciliations (daily, weekly, and monthly)
• Investigating and resolving outstanding reconciling items and discrepancies
• Preparing and posting journal entries with proper account coding and classification
• Reconciling assigned balance sheet accounts monthly and preparing supporting schedules
• Managing intercompany transactions and resolving discrepancies with regional teams
• Reconciling customer and supplier statements and investigating posting errors
• Preparing accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and amortization entries
• Maintaining fixed asset registers including additions, disposals, and depreciation calculations
• Supporting month-end and year-end closing activities
• Assisting with internal and external audit requests
• Ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards

The specific mix of tasks depends on the department's monthly cycle. Full training on the client's accounting system will be provided.

What We're Looking For

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field
• Associate degree or accounting diploma considered with substantial relevant experience
• Progress toward ACCA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional qualification is an asset

Experience:

• Minimum three years in general accounting, account reconciliations, or financial reporting
• Demonstrated experience preparing bank, balance sheet, and intercompany reconciliations
• Hands-on experience with journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and depreciation
• Experience supporting month-end and year-end close processes
• Fixed asset accounting experience preferred
• Multi-company or group accounting environment experience is an asset
• Proficiency with ERP or accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
