Deep Learning Research Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential computer vision technology company based in London. Our client develops advanced AI solutions for camera-enabled devices and is experiencing rapid growth following significant venture funding. They are expanding their research and engineering teams across multiple specialisms.

This Deep Learning Research Engineer role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI systems that combine efficient on-device models with cloud-based multimodal capabilities. You'll be joining a high-performing team working on products deployed at scale.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize multimodal large language models for both cloud and edge deployments
• Train and design highly efficient computer vision models optimized for resource-constrained hardware
• Improve model architectures, training algorithms, and data pipelines
• Deploy training jobs using Kubernetes, PyTorch, and TensorFlow across GPU clusters
• Build datasets using tools like Snowflake and Dataflow
• Prototype new features and demonstrations using frameworks like Streamlit
• Research and implement novel approaches to solve challenging problems in efficient AI
• Ship production-ready models that reach millions of devices in the field

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong Python proficiency
• Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, or JAX
• Strong background in computer vision and multimodal large language models
• Proven track record of training neural networks that have been deployed to production
• Currently based in London or willing to relocate

Nice to Have:

• Industry experience with efficient inference deployments on cloud or edge platforms
• Experience with Deep Reinforcement Learning

The role requires working from the London office at least 2 days per week, with flexible working hours.
