About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential financial technology organization in a senior platform engineering role. This is a mature, production-scale initiative focused on automating secure, compliant cloud infrastructure for banking clients. You'll work on a self-service platform that provisions Databricks environments and orchestrates data synchronization between on-premises systems and cloud infrastructure.
This position is based in Canada and involves collaboration with engineering teams internationally, including quarterly on-site planning sessions in Europe.
Responsibilities
- Build and evolve platform automation that provisions Databricks workspaces at scale
- Write Terraform code for deploying and managing Azure infrastructure components
- Develop orchestration and provisioning logic using Apache Airflow
- Build reliable data synchronization pipelines connecting on-premises data lakes with cloud environments
- Contribute to the governance layer, ensuring Databricks governance remains synchronized with on-premises data governance systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams in a hybrid environment
What We're Looking For
Required Skills:
- Strong hands-on experience with Databricks, including workspace administration and Unity Catalog governance
- Solid Terraform and infrastructure-as-code experience in Azure environments
- Proficiency with Apache Airflow for orchestration and automation workflows
- Data engineering fundamentals with proven ability to build reliable data sync and integration pipelines
- Kubernetes experience (platform runs on OpenShift)
- Senior-level autonomy: able to take ownership of technical initiatives and challenge architectural decisions constructively
Nice to Have:
- Docker and containerization skills for building platform components as container images
- Experience with GenAI on Databricks (agents, RAG architectures)
- German language skills (working language is English)
- Background in regulated industries such as banking or financial services
