Senior Platform Engineer, Developer Platform

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential technology organization seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join their Developer Platform team in London. This is a hybrid role supporting a rapidly scaling global business.

In this position, you will be part of a group that builds the core systems, tools, and environments empowering engineers to ship high-quality capabilities quickly and confidently. The team owns developer experience for a primary monorepo, maintains a Bazel-based build ecosystem, evolves development environments, and manages IDEs and agentic tooling.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Acting as a Project Owner who understands customer problems and translates objectives into well-defined, scoped sub-problems for yourself and peers
• Setting a high bar for craftsmanship, reliability, and scalability, leading by example in execution
• Making long-term versus short-term trade-offs and designing high-quality, durable solutions
• Managing moderate levels of ambiguity with effective project management skills
• Taking ownership of areas within your team's charter and making improvements that deliver real impact for customers and peers
• Identifying gaps and providing recommendations to cross-functional partners regularly
• Serving as a role model within your team, showing up as an empathetic and influential teacher and mentor

What We're Looking For

Our client is seeking a candidate with strong expertise in some of these areas and curiosity to grow in others:

• Strong background in software engineering, preferably with Go and/or Python
• Extensive experience with infrastructure tooling, ideally Terraform
• Extensive experience managing AWS cloud environments
• Demonstrated ability to contribute to the direction of a technical domain in the platform space (e.g., Container Orchestration, Kafka, Build Systems, Observability)
• Background in building AI-assisted developer tools or integrating LLM-backed systems is a plus
