Senior Software Engineer, Proactive Security

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential on-demand logistics client seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Proactive Security to join their London-based team. This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week in the office. You will work within a global security engineering organization responsible for building and maintaining security infrastructure that protects a complex, multi-sided marketplace operating at significant scale across multiple regions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and operate core security products including Remote Access Management, Secrets Management, Tokenization, Encryption, Knowledge Graphs, and Access Control systems at global scale
• Lead technical direction and roadmap for your assigned area of ownership
• Partner cross-functionally with infrastructure, product engineering, legal, and security teams to build secure-by-default pathways that embed security practices into development processes
• Maintain high operational excellence standards for Tier 0 services to ensure minimal downtime
• Participate in on-call rotation and respond to incidents with urgency and rigor
• Manage the full lifecycle of security product features from triage through validation, design, testing, and implementation
• Drive improvements to engineering standards and leverage advancements including LLMs to improve team productivity
• Mentor and coach earlier-career engineers, setting high standards for operational excellence and software engineering practices

What We're Looking For

• Proven track record of driving measurable improvements to infrastructure security posture in production environments
• Breadth of technical experience across various infrastructure and security domains in large-scale production systems
• Strong proficiency in distributed systems and platform development using Java/Scala/Kotlin, Golang, or Python
• Solid experience with infrastructure as code tooling, particularly Terraform
• Deep expertise with cloud infrastructure and management in AWS
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex, systemic issues requiring creative thinking and novel solutions
• Exceptional analytical and investigative abilities with hands-on experience leading root cause analysis
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to review design documents with infrastructure, security, and engineering stakeholders
• Comfortable exercising discretion and independent judgment, evaluating options and determining appropriate courses of action with minimal oversight
