About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology client in the home services sector, and our talent team is searching for a Manager, Software Engineering, Operations to lead engineering teams focused on day-to-day business operations tools. This is an excellent opportunity to guide engineers building software that helps small businesses run efficiently and understand their performance metrics.

In this role, you'll manage engineering teams within a product domain centered on job orchestration and workflow management. You'll work alongside Product Management, Design, and Engineering Leadership peers to deliver tools that enable service businesses to confidently execute their work from start to finish. Your teams will focus on scheduling, crew management, and providing business owners with the visibility they need to make informed decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop engineering team members, helping them master their craft while building high-quality systems and experiences
• Support your people through regular one-on-ones, goal setting, constructive feedback, and career coaching—acting as both mentor and coach
• Participate in recruiting and hiring while implementing processes to develop a world-class engineering department
• Remove roadblocks and establish guardrails that enable your team to rapidly produce top-quality work
• Collaborate with stakeholders across Product Management, Design, and Business Technology teams to deliver optimal solutions
• Drive team performance and delivery—whether that means clearing the path for high-performing teams or rolling up your sleeves to help teams regain momentum
• Lead with agility in a dynamic environment, teaching your team to adapt to change while thinking critically and creatively
• Shape the technical direction of the platform, ensuring reliability and performance as the organization scales

What We're Looking For

• Proven track record as an established software engineer with experience in a leadership position guiding teams to deliver quality software
• Strong full-stack technical background, including design and architectural experience
• Drive to deliver impactful projects on time while adapting your leadership style to your team's needs
• Ability to lead and teach teams to adapt to change in an agile environment
• Effective written and oral communication skills with a commitment to transparency and open dialogue
• Experience as a leader and mentor who provides constructive feedback and influences through shared experience
• Familiarity or comfort with AI tools and AI-augmented development workflows
• Highly desired: experience with ReactJS, TypeScript, Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, and GraphQL
• Highly desired: experience building projects from initial discovery through delivery and measurement

Location and Work Arrangement

This role is based in Canada (Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver, or Kitchener-Waterloo region) or the USA. Our client values intentional collaboration and expects in-person engagement in one of their hub locations.

Pay

The client offers a compensation range of $169,200 to $228,900 CAD annually, with a midpoint of $199,100 CAD. This range is designed to reflect progression from learning the role to excelling in it. New hires typically start around the midpoint based on skills and experience, with the higher end reserved for demonstrated deep expertise and contributions.

Total compensation includes equity rewards, annual health and wellness stipends, retirement savings matching, and a comprehensive extended health benefits package with fully paid premiums.
