Finance & AI Automation Intern (Remote Part-time)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing data technology organization serving Fortune 500 clients across multiple continents. Our client operates through three legal entities in two currencies and is building a finance function that runs on automation and AI-first workflows. They're hiring a Finance & AI Automation Intern to execute core processes and systematically automate manual work.

This is a remote, part-time role based in Germany with European business hours. You'll work directly with the Finance team, running real processes from week one—invoice processing, month-end reporting, payroll preparation, expense management, and intercompany transactions across multiple entities and accounting systems.

Responsibilities

• Execute core finance operations: invoice processing, month-end close, payroll data preparation, expense management, and intercompany recharges across three entities in two currencies
• Build AI-driven automations using Claude, ChatGPT, and other tools to eliminate manual work from established processes
• Design and implement reconciliations and control checks for every automation to ensure verified, accurate output
• Document processes clearly for both human colleagues and AI agents
• Support the Finance team with reporting, analysis, and ad-hoc projects spanning Belgian and US entities
• Evaluate and select the appropriate tool for each automation—whether AI agent, script, or advanced spreadsheet—and justify your technical choices

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Currently studying or recently completed degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field
• Demonstrated experience building with AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) and/or creating automations, scripts, or advanced spreadsheet solutions—you must be able to show examples and explain your validation approach
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy—you naturally catch discrepancies and verify numbers before sign-off
• Self-directed learner comfortable picking up GitHub, MCP-based integrations, and finance systems independently
• Proactive problem-solver who identifies manual processes and proposes automation solutions
• Fluent English, written and spoken
• Available for European business hours; fully remote from compatible time zone or hybrid near Amsterdam

Preferred:

• Experience with accounting software (Exact Online, QuickBooks) or ERP systems
• Exposure to Python, SQL, or API-based automation
• Previous startup or fast-paced environment experience

Pay
