About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology client building advanced physics simulation software for hardware design. This is a strategic leadership role within their European operations, leading technical customer engagement and team development across the region.

As Principal Thermal-Mechanical Engineer, you will build and mentor a high-performing team of simulation engineers who work directly with enterprise customers to validate and optimize complex hardware designs. You'll serve as a trusted technical advisor, demonstrating transformative improvements in thermal performance, product reliability, and time-to-market through advanced simulation capabilities.

This remote position is based in Munich, Germany, with moderate travel primarily within continental Europe. Occasional intercontinental collaboration with the US team may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Build, lead, and scale a European team of thermo-mechanical engineers, setting technical direction, hiring, and driving field execution
  • Collaborate with sales teams to lead technical discussions, scope proof-of-concept evaluations, and deliver compelling demonstrations to enterprise customers
  • Guide customer engineering teams through evaluation phases, overseeing simulation setup, running complex test cases, and interpreting results
  • Own customer enablement through onboarding, deployment, and account expansion, providing technical guidance and advanced troubleshooting
  • Leverage expertise in continuum mechanics to analyze complex physical phenomena including linear, geometric and material nonlinearities, contact interactions, warpage, stress evolution, and thermal cycling
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to transform customer feedback into actionable product improvements
  • Represent the organization at industry conferences and semiconductor events through technical presentations and platform demonstrations
  • Maintain competitive intelligence on simulation technologies, industry trends, and market positioning

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or closely related technical field
  • 15+ years of hands-on experience with commercial simulation software (Ansys, Abaqus, or equivalent) in thermo-mechanical simulations
  • Deep familiarity with semiconductor electronics packaging, advanced packaging technologies (2.5D/3D IC), or foundry ecosystems
  • Prior customer-facing experience with proven ability to build trust and manage engineering client relationships
  • Practical programming experience using Python or C++ to automate workflows or parse simulation data
  • Proven managerial or technical leadership experience with ability to scale and mentor engineering teams
  • Elite communication skills with ability to present complex physics concepts to both technical and business audiences

Preferred qualifications:

  • Familiarity with thermal solutions management and/or Electrical Signal Integrity and Power Integrity workflows
  • Experience commercializing technical software (EDA or CAE simulation tools) into semiconductor enterprises
  • Background in technical pre-sales, application engineering, or strategic technical sales environments
  • Ability to rapidly adopt AI-assisted design or simulation tools
