About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential e-commerce technology organization based in Germany. They are building out their data infrastructure to support advanced analytics, self-service reporting, and AI-driven capabilities across their platform. As their business scales, they need a senior product leader to transform how data products are defined, standardized, and consumed throughout the organization.
This is a hybrid role based in Berlin, with a permanent contract. You'll own the strategic direction for data lakehouse products, moving the organization from ad-hoc data requests to a mature, product-driven data platform that serves both human users and machine consumers.
Responsibilities
- Own the product portfolio and strategic roadmap for the data lakehouse domain, shifting from reactive request fulfillment to proactive development of reusable, standardized metric frameworks
- Manage data products end-to-end with a customer-centric approach, tracking adoption, trust, and actual usage patterns among internal consumers
- Define and maintain the semantic layer including metric definitions, dimensional models, metadata standards, and comprehensive documentation that serves both BI tool users and AI agents
- Build and deliver metrics-as-a-service capabilities, exposing standardized metrics through APIs that product engineering teams can integrate directly into their applications
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal data consumers and product teams, managing expectations, communicating trade-offs, and maintaining clear prioritization boundaries
- Collaborate with adjacent data domain teams to align shared standards and dimensions, while partnering with platform teams as service providers for your product needs
What We're Looking For
- Several years of product management experience with direct ownership of data or analytics products such as data platforms, semantic layers, data-intensive APIs, or similar data product portfolios
- Strong data-as-a-product mindset, demonstrating focus on consumer needs, data quality, governance frameworks, semantic consistency, and measurable adoption metrics
- Proven track record defining and standardizing metrics and data concepts that enable consistent usage across multiple teams and diverse use cases
- Demonstrated leadership in complex, ambiguous environments with the ability to set direction, make autonomous decisions, and drive outcomes without complete information
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication capabilities, with experience aligning diverse groups and building consensus without formal authority
- Solid technical understanding of modern data ecosystems and tooling, ideally including lakehouse architectures, dbt, semantic layer technologies, reporting platforms, and AI-enabled data access patterns
- Fluency in English; German language skills are beneficial but not required
