Operational Excellence Specialist

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential e-commerce organization in their search for an Operational Excellence Specialist to join their Berlin operations. Our client is a fast-scaling online grocery platform operating across multiple European markets, and they need a results-driven professional to lead continuous improvement initiatives across their last mile delivery network.

This role sits within the Operational Excellence team and focuses on driving process standardization, efficiency gains, and sustainable performance improvements across delivery operations. You'll own a strategic improvement roadmap and work with both central and local teams to solve systemic challenges in routing, loading, and delivery execution.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver a 3 to 6 month continuous improvement roadmap for last mile operations, ensuring initiatives are completed on time and deliver measurable impact
• Lead end-to-end improvement initiatives including problem framing, business case development, pilot execution, impact measurement, and cross-site scaling
• Drive adoption of operational best practices in loading, routing, and delivery through coaching, training, and stakeholder influence
• Partner with group-level development teams and local site operations to coordinate projects and monitor current performance
• Analyze operational data and on-site observations to identify root causes, distinguish signal from noise, and implement standardized solutions
• Document processes using value stream mapping, process maps, and other continuous improvement tools
• Travel 2 to 3 days per week across operational sites to support implementation and embed best practices

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 3+ years of operational experience owning projects or programs in last mile delivery for retail environments
• Demonstrated leadership and coaching capability with the ability to influence without direct authority
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across multiple organizational levels
• Strong analytical thinking with ability to define metrics, interpret data, and separate correlation from causation
• Proven project management experience delivering complex initiatives on time
• Willingness and ability to travel 2 to 3 days per week across operational sites

Preferred qualifications:

• Background in e-commerce, grocery delivery, or same-day delivery operations
• Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt)
• Formal project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or similar)
