Senior Full Stack Developer | Java / React (f/m/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential life-sciences technology organization based in Cologne, Germany. Our client is building enterprise data infrastructure that supports global pharmaceutical product development and regulatory compliance. As their recruiting partner, we're seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer to join a high-impact product development team.

This is a permanent, full-time position requiring on-site presence in the Cologne/NRW area with hybrid flexibility. You'll work closely with backend and frontend engineers, QA, DevOps, and product stakeholders while having direct access to senior technical leadership.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of user-facing features across the full stack, from business logic in modern Java/Spring Boot to responsive React/TypeScript interfaces via GraphQL and REST APIs
• Drive architectural evolution toward multi-module Spring patterns and optimize complex PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch queries
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Claude, Gemini) to accelerate scaffolding, refactoring, and test writing while maintaining architectural integrity, security, and code quality
• Maintain rigorous test coverage using JUnit, Testcontainers, and Playwright
• Conduct thorough merge request reviews including AI-generated code
• Mentor junior engineers and raise engineering standards across the team
• Work with domain-specific RDF semantic data structures

What We're Looking For

• Experience: 5+ years shipping and owning full-stack features in production SaaS environments
• Education: Computer Science degree, Fachinformatiker training, or strong hands-on experience as a career-changer
• Location: Based in Germany within commuting distance to Cologne (NRW) with valid German work permit
• AI-Native Approach: Active use of AI development tools in your daily workflow; you view AI as an output amplifier and combine curiosity with deep technical judgment
• Core Stack: Deep expertise in modern Java (17+), Spring Boot ecosystem (Spring Security, Spring Data JPA), React 18, TypeScript, Redux, and GraphQL (Apollo Client)
• Data & Testing: Strong hands-on experience with SQL/PostgreSQL, Flyway migrations, full-stack testing (Unit, Integration, E2E), and GitLab CI/CD pipelines
• Languages: Business fluent English required; German skills are a strong plus
• Bonus Skills: Experience with semantic web tools (RDF, SPARQL, Apache Jena), Material UI (MUI 5), Elasticsearch, or life-sciences/pharma domains (FHIR, IDMP) is highly valued
