Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a confidential consumer technology organization in their search for a Lead Legal Counsel, IP based in London, UK. This is a senior-level position for an intellectual property expert who will independently lead significant IP matters and shape practical strategies across trademarks, copyright, patents, and emerging technology rights.

You'll work at the intersection of law, brand, product, and innovation—advising on rights clearance, portfolio management, licensing, enforcement, and the IP dimensions of AI and other emerging technologies. This role requires deep subject-matter expertise, commercial judgment, and the ability to collaborate effectively with Marketing, Creative, Product, and Engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Shape and execute global intellectual property strategy in partnership with Legal leadership, covering protection, portfolio management, licensing, and enforcement across international trademark, copyright, patent, domain name, and trade secret portfolios
• Take ownership of significant IP matters, working with external counsel and specialist providers to protect strategically important intellectual property
• Provide practical rights-clearance and IP advice from early concept through launch, including trademarks, copyright, publicity rights, creator and talent rights, user-generated content, and third-party materials
• Independently lead complex IP enforcement and dispute matters, including infringement, oppositions, litigation support, and evidence management
• Draft and negotiate sophisticated IP arrangements including licenses, coexistence agreements, assignments, merchandising arrangements, technology agreements, and strategic partnerships
• Partner with Product and Engineering on patent strategy, software development, open-source software, and innovation protection
• Advise on emerging IP questions involving generative AI, training data, provenance, ownership, licensing, and infringement risk
• Support due diligence for significant partnerships, investments, and acquisitions
• Develop practical playbooks, precedents, training, and self-service guidance that help teams identify and manage IP risk consistently

What We're Looking For

• Qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales, or equivalent qualification in another European jurisdiction
• Typically 8+ years of experience, though we welcome candidates with alternative backgrounds that demonstrate equivalent skills
• Deep intellectual property expertise, particularly across trademarks, copyright, brand protection, licensing, portfolio management, rights clearance, and technology-related IP matters
• Strong experience advising consumer technology or similarly complex businesses on IP issues involving software, digital content, product innovation, AI, and emerging technologies
• Accomplished drafter and negotiator capable of managing sophisticated IP and technology arrangements
• Ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear recommendations that enable informed commercial decisions
• Strong commercial judgment combined with excellent organizational and project-management skills
• Experience managing multiple priorities, international portfolios, external advisers, and specialist providers
• Ability to build trusted relationships with senior partners across different disciplines
• Comfortable using AI tools responsibly to improve effectiveness while exercising appropriate human judgment
