Mechatronic Engineer – Automation Test Equitment

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential defense technology organization seeking a talented Mechatronics Engineer to join their R&D department in Paris. In this role, you will design and develop hardware and software for automated testing and inspection platforms that support both product development and manufacturing operations.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Designing, prototyping, and maintaining mechanical test fixtures, jigs, and tooling optimized for reliability and repeatable operator use
• Creating physical integration designs for sensors, actuators, cameras, and other instruments into test stations, collaborating closely with automation software engineers
• Specifying and integrating custom testing equipment and instrumentation solutions from external vendors, including RF housings, GNSS systems, and optical components
• Working across product development, manufacturing, and deployment teams to deliver robust, maintainable, and scalable automation solutions for both factory and field environments
• Contributing to occasional software integration tasks based on your skillset and project requirements

What We're Looking For

Our client requires a candidate with:

• MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline
• Excellent CAD proficiency with demonstrated experience in rapid prototyping and robust solution implementation (SolidWorks, Catia, or similar platforms)
• Proven track record working with external vendors and machine shops for part fabrication and test equipment selection
• Hands-on capability performing soldering, wiring, and small-scale electrical circuit work for test system integration
• Experience working with electronic assemblies and PCBAs
• Strong problem-solving abilities and talent for designing practical, robust engineering solutions
• Excellent communication skills with proven ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams

Preferred qualifications:

• Familiarity with pogo-pin or bed-of-nails fixturing approaches
• Knowledge of RF housing design and specifications
