Manager, Accounting Advisory – Construction Industry Clients

Overview

We are representing a confidential professional services firm seeking a Manager, Accounting Advisory with deep construction industry expertise. This is a fully remote position available anywhere in the United States, offering the opportunity to deliver controller-level advisory services to construction sector clients while leading a distributed team.

In this role, you'll serve as the primary advisor for construction clients, guiding financial reporting, work-in-progress analysis, and operational improvements. You'll partner with client CFOs and accounting teams, mentor staff accountants, and coordinate efforts across US-based and offshore team members to deliver exceptional results.

Responsibilities

• Review financial reporting packages and work papers for accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery
• Prepare and analyze benchmarking data and key performance indicators to provide actionable client insights
• Present completed reports and findings to client stakeholders
• Assist in developing budgets, forecasts, and cash flow models aligned with engagement scope
• Provide technical accounting guidance on complex construction accounting matters
• Identify process inefficiencies through discovery sessions and recommend practical improvements
• Lead and coordinate US and offshore engagement teams to ensure quality deliverables and consistent client experience
• Coach and develop staff and senior accountants on accounting standards and financial reporting

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
• 4–6 years of experience in public or private accounting
• 3+ years managing associates and/or teams
• Professional certification (CPA, CMA) strongly preferred
• Working knowledge of job costing, WIP schedules, retainage, and change orders
• Understanding of project-based cash flow dynamics, including timing differences between billing, collections, and costs
• Comfort partnering with owners, project managers, and external advisors in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
• Exposure to multi-state operations, sales/use tax, and contractor-specific compliance considerations
• Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis
• Strong planning, prioritization, and organizational skills
• Strong project management and relationship-building skills with a client-first mindset
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
• Preferred proficiency in industry accounting software (QuickBooks Online, Foundation, Procore) and ability to embrace new technologies
• Demonstrated ability to influence others, promote change, and develop team members
• Ability to travel up to 10%
