Associate Manager, Clinical Operations – FSP

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential clinical research organization seeking an Associate Manager, Clinical Operations for their FSP division. This is a remote opportunity based in the United Kingdom, ideal for an experienced clinical research professional ready to step into people management while maintaining hands-on oversight of monitoring operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a clinical operations team of 5-10 Clinical Research Associates, including performance reviews, individual development plans, and goal setting
• Provide monitoring oversight to ensure activities meet ICH/GCP standards and quality requirements
• Conduct and report on Quality Control Visits (CQC) with appropriate follow-up
• Oversee resource planning, assignment management, and expense approval for direct reports
• Hold team members accountable for source data verification, monitoring visit cycles, trip report quality, and on-time deliverables
• Monitor performance indicators and escalate training needs; assist with regional training efforts
• Provide oversight on site-level evaluation, initiation, patient recruitment and retention, data collection, and site closeout activities
• Maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support business development
• Communicate management strategies, policies, and procedures in alignment with leadership teams
• Manage performance issues and ensure compliance with project plans and contract obligations

What We're Looking For

Education:

• University or college degree in life sciences preferred, or certification in a related allied health profession (nursing, medical technology, laboratory technology)
• Equivalent experience may be considered: minimum 2 years supervisory experience in healthcare or clinical research plus 6 years relevant clinical research experience
• Master's or other advanced degree preferred

Experience:

• Minimum 4 years clinical research experience in a pharmaceutical company or CRO setting
• Proficiency with on-site monitoring activities including pre-study, initiation, routine monitoring, and closeout visits
• Line Manager or Project Manager experience preferred
• Phase I monitoring experience preferred
• Thorough knowledge of drug development processes, SOPs, ICH, and GCP guidelines

Skills:

• Demonstrated ability to lead by example and encourage team problem-solving
• Proven interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a matrix environment
• Strong ability to manage multiple competing priorities
• Excellent planning, organizational, and presentation skills
• Exceptional written and oral communication abilities
• Ability to travel globally 25-50% of the time with overnight stays
