Analytics Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization seeking an Analytics Engineer to join their Business Analytics function in Paris. Our client is a profitable, scaling European company serving hundreds of thousands of customers across multiple markets.

This role sits at a pivotal moment in the data team's evolution. You'll own end-to-end data models feeding Product, Growth, and Operations Finance analytics — designing scalable dbt models, maintaining data quality standards, and contributing to an ongoing migration to modern semantic layer tooling.

You'll report to an experienced Analytics Engineering Manager and partner daily with Business Analysts across multiple business functions. This is a role for someone who can balance technical excellence with stakeholder collaboration, and who knows when to push back on requests that would compromise long-term reliability.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain production-grade dbt models and tests that Business Analytics teams rely on daily across Product, Growth, and Operations Finance
• Partner closely with Business Analysts to understand requirements, challenge assumptions when necessary, and deliver data solutions that balance immediate needs with long-term scalability
• Reduce technical debt by contributing to data stack modernization efforts, including migration to improved analytics tooling and semantic layer architecture
• Own projects end-to-end from discovery through delivery, monitoring real business impact rather than simply closing tickets
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate documentation, testing, and modeling work while maintaining quality judgment on critical design decisions
• Establish and uphold data modeling standards that will define Analytics Engineering practices as the organization scales

What We're Looking For

• Strong production experience with dbt and SQL, particularly dimensional modeling techniques
• Proven track record of shipping data models that other teams successfully build dashboards and analytics on top of
• Ability to constructively challenge stakeholder requests that would compromise data quality, while maintaining positive working relationships
• Design approach focused on scalability and maintainability, with judgment on when to prioritize speed versus perfection
• Demonstrated use of AI tools beyond basic code assistance — for example, to accelerate modeling, documentation, or test generation
• Ownership mentality with ability to take projects from concept through production and measure their impact
• For senior candidates: experience mentoring others and establishing data quality standards across teams
• Fluency in English; French language skills are beneficial given the Paris location and stakeholder base
