Principal Data & AI Consultant

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential digital technology consultancy seeking a Principal Data & AI Consultant to join their team in Dundee, Scotland. This is a hybrid role requiring approximately 2 days per week in the office, with flexibility to work from home the remainder of the time.

Our client partners with organizations to solve complex business and customer challenges through technology-driven transformation. They deliver business-critical IT projects spanning strategy, design, delivery, and operations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines using both batch and streaming processing
• Champion data governance, security, privacy, and regulatory compliance across enterprise platforms
• Translate complex business challenges into clear technical roadmaps for executive stakeholders
• Design usable data models that enable advanced analytics, LLMs, and AI/ML applications
• Oversee evolution of cloud data platforms to maximize performance and optimize costs
• Contribute to technical direction and shape new business proposals
• Mentor colleagues and foster an inclusive, collaborative team environment
• Guide clients through technical ambiguity as a trusted advisor

What We're Looking For

• Practical experience with data modelling, ETL/ELT, and diverse database technologies
• Fluency in data processing languages including Python, SQL, and PySpark
• Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
• Understanding of how AI fits into the broader data landscape, with interest in LLMs and AI/MLOps
• Proven track record supporting multi-team deliveries and guiding architectural decisions
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience with modern data stack tools (Airflow, Spark, Databricks, or similar)
• Collaborative leadership approach with mentoring experience
