Senior Maintenance Engineer

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential FMCG manufacturing organization in their search for a Senior Maintenance Engineer. This is a day-shift role based in Pontefract, working Monday to Friday, 07:30 - 16:00.

You'll join a three-person line management team focused on equipment reliability, loss reduction, and performance improvement across production operations. This position combines technical leadership, continuous improvement methodology, and hands-on problem-solving in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead progressive maintenance programs by owning maintenance strategy and driving reliability improvements to reduce breakdown and maintenance-related losses
• Drive continuous improvement activities through root cause analysis, loss elimination, and structured problem-solving techniques to address recurring equipment and process issues
• Partner with operations teams and equipment owners to improve line performance and deliver shared safety, quality, cost, and productivity targets
• Coach and develop colleagues to build technical capability, embed maintenance best practices, and foster a culture of ownership and accountability
• Use performance data and insights to identify improvement opportunities, prioritize initiatives, and support strategic decision-making
• Work within structured continuous improvement frameworks to eliminate inefficiencies and deliver sustainable performance gains

What We're Looking For

• Level 3 qualification in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent
• Strong maintenance and fault-finding expertise with proven ability to diagnose issues, implement solutions, and improve equipment reliability
• Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, TPM, or similar approaches, with a track record of delivering measurable results
• Leadership and coaching skills with the ability to influence, support, and develop colleagues in a manufacturing or production setting
• Experience in manufacturing, food production, or FMCG environments is advantageous, though candidates from other engineering sectors with transferable skills are encouraged to apply
• Proactive and collaborative approach with passion for continuous improvement, teamwork, and delivering results
