AI Engineer – Dealflow (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential private equity organization focused on the DACH software and technology mid-market sector. Our client is building their proprietary dealflow capability and needs an experienced AI Engineer to develop and own the tooling that powers their investment origination process. This role sits at the intersection of AI engineering and deal sourcing, with significant ownership from day one.

You'll work closely with senior leadership and the investment team to build scalable data infrastructure that identifies attractive companies and their shareholders early—ideally before formal sale processes begin. This is a critical function with high visibility and impact.

Responsibilities

• Build and own the AI-powered tool that continuously fills the origination funnel with software and technology companies in the DACH mid-market
• Develop and refine screening and prioritization logic for target companies, systematically improving match quality
• Build automated data acquisition and enrichment workflows to populate firmographics and ownership structures
• Develop logic and workflows to identify intent signals and potential selling interest
• Implement automated multichannel outreach and evolve the underlying processes
• Create dashboards and reports for funnel metrics, activities, and conversion rates to support sourcing and pipeline reviews
• Evaluate new prospecting and sourcing tools; develop outreach sequences and messaging frameworks

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated track record of building AI tools and automations that have been deployed in production—not just prototypes or demos
• At least 2–3 years of experience building AI-based products or tools
• Strong Python development skills with experience deploying production applications using Docker on Azure
• Hands-on experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Claude) and understanding of where they work reliably versus where they don't
• Experience working with CRM data; understanding of data quality and structure requirements; familiarity with Pipedrive is a plus
• Knowledge of agent systems and frameworks like LangGraph is advantageous
• Commercial mindset: you understand why a target is relevant and measure yourself against results
• Degree in Business Informatics, Data Science, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a comparable STEM field
• Fluent German and English
