IT-Systemadministrator – Datacenter & Infrastructure (m/w/d)

We are representing a confidential renewable energy organization in their search for an IT Systems Administrator focused on datacenter and infrastructure operations. Our client is based in Karlsruhe and is seeking a talented professional to join their growing technical team on a permanent, full-time basis.

Responsibilities

• Analyze complex IT infrastructure incidents independently, identify root causes, and implement structured solutions across systems and locations
• Operate, monitor, and develop network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and site interconnections
• Administer and optimize datacenter components such as firewalls, storage systems, backup solutions, switches, and core infrastructure services
• Plan and execute capacity, availability, and lifecycle initiatives to ensure infrastructure scales reliably with organizational growth
• Design secure, standardized infrastructure solutions for new sites, expansions, and modernization projects
• Support high-performance specialized workstations in collaboration with IT support teams and business units
• Maintain structured documentation and track changes, problems, and technical tasks in service management platforms

What We're Looking For

• Completed IT qualification such as a degree in computer science, certification as a specialist in system integration, or equivalent professional experience
• 5 to 8 years of professional experience administering and operating complex IT infrastructures
• Strong knowledge of networking technologies including TCP/IP, VLAN, routing, switching, WLAN, WAN, VPN, DNS, and DHCP
• Solid experience administering Windows-based IT infrastructures
• Practical hands-on experience with multiple technologies such as firewalls, Microsoft Entra ID, storage systems, backup solutions, and PowerShell
• Experience in cross-system troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and operating secure multi-site infrastructures
• Analytical, solution-oriented, and independent working style with strong documentation skills
• Experience with IT service management processes and tools
• Clear professional communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
• Willingness to travel occasionally to external sites and datacenter locations as needed
• Fluent German and good English language skills, both written and spoken
