(Senior) M&A Associate (w/m/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential private-equity-backed organization in its search for a Senior M&A Associate to support an active buy-and-build strategy. In this role, you will take end-to-end ownership of buy-side transactions from target identification through closing. Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading buy-side M&A transactions independently from initial analysis to successful completion
• Conducting company valuations and developing suitable transaction and financing structures
• Preparing and negotiating offers and transaction documents in collaboration with the M&A team
• Coordinating due diligence processes across relevant functional areas
• Identifying and analyzing potential acquisition targets with focus on the health, safety, and environmental services sectors
• Proactively approaching suitable target companies and developing existing contacts as part of the buy-and-build strategy
• Utilizing market and company analyses to identify and evaluate attractive acquisition opportunities early
• Assessing strategic and economic potential of possible acquisitions and preparing well-founded decision bases for management
• Independently coordinating all internal and external stakeholders involved in the transaction process
• Working closely with the M&A team, Head of M&A, and C-suite executives
• Managing external advisors and ensuring efficient coordination of relevant workstreams
• Monitoring transaction processes regarding timelines, milestones, and decision criteria

What We're Looking For

Our client seeks a candidate with proven transaction experience who can operate independently in a fast-paced environment. The ideal profile includes:

• Successfully completed degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or comparable field
• Several years of relevant professional experience in M&A, Corporate Finance, Investment Banking, or comparable transaction-focused roles
• Demonstrable end-to-end deal experience, ideally on the buy-side, enabling independent transaction management
• Experience independently managing small- to mid-cap transactions
• Very good German language skills (required for this role)
• Structured, analytical, and independent working style
• Strong communication skills to navigate complex transaction processes

Preferred qualifications that will help you succeed faster:

• Experience in a private equity or buy-and-build environment
• Knowledge of the health, safety, healthcare, or professional services sectors
• Experience collaborating with management teams, investors, and external transaction advisors

This position offers a hybrid working model with generous home-office flexibility. Full remote work within Germany is also possible. The role is based in Berlin with access to centrally located office facilities.
