We are representing a confidential technology organization at the center of the platform engineering and cloud-native ecosystems. Our client convenes one of the world's largest communities in this space, produces flagship industry conferences, and operates a research division that publishes widely-cited reports and market intelligence on internal developer platforms and AI-driven software development.

We're seeking a Head of Research & Editorial based in Berlin to lead their analyst practice and own the intellectual agenda across all published content. This is a high-visibility role where you will publish under your own name, represent the organization at major industry events, and shape the narrative around an emerging technical discipline.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the strategic thesis on platform engineering, developer tooling, and AI-enabled software development
• Lead the research agenda including methodology standards, vendor briefings, market guides, and flagship annual reports
• Establish and manage a quarterly editorial calendar that drives alignment across content, events, and go-to-market efforts
• Publish regularly under your own byline as a named analyst; represent the organization at major conferences and in press engagements
• Manage and develop a content team including a content operations lead, narratives/quality lead, and video producer
• Enforce editorial standards and research integrity, including clear separation between sponsored content and independent analysis
• Conduct and oversee vendor and enterprise briefings to maintain a structured view of the market landscape
• Build co-publishing and syndication relationships with other media organizations and analyst firms
• Advise founders on public positioning and thought leadership strategy

What We're Looking For

• 6+ years in industry analysis, technical journalism, strategic content marketing, or developer advocacy with a strategic remit
• Deep expertise in platform engineering, developer tooling, cloud infrastructure, or AI adoption in software development
• Published body of work under your own name demonstrating clear point of view backed by evidence
• Strong editorial judgment: ability to distinguish between topics and theses, and to prioritize what matters now
• Experience establishing and enforcing research methodology, sourcing standards, and fact-checking processes
• Track record leading small editorial, research, or content production teams
• Comfort with public representation: speaking at events, appearing on camera, leading vendor briefings
• Operational discipline around calendars, workflows, and shipping cadence
• Exceptional written and spoken English
• Willingness to travel several times per year for events and offsites

Nice to have: Experience at or with analyst firms; survey design and quantitative research methods; existing relationships in the cloud-native ecosystem; hands-on engineering or platform background; practical perspective on AI in research workflows; startup or scale-up experience; comfort with remote, distributed teams.
