SPS-Programmierer (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential automation engineering organization in Hessen, and we're looking for an SPS Programmer to join their technical team. In this role, you will own projects from technical preparation through commissioning at customer sites.

• Develop, extend, and optimize PLC programs for custom machinery and systems using Siemens TIA Portal and/or Step7
• Guide projects holistically from technical preparation through control software creation and adaptation to final commissioning
• Analyze faults in existing systems, conduct systematic troubleshooting and error analysis, and develop appropriate solutions—remotely or on-site at customer facilities
• Program and adapt Siemens HMI systems and implement operator interface and visualization concepts
• Collaborate closely with electrical engineering and mechanical teams to develop solutions that consider the entire machine or system integration
• Commission machines and systems at customer sites, support optimization efforts, and ensure reliable system operation
• Provide technical customer support and conduct operator training and instruction sessions as needed
• Participate in retrofit, modernization, and conversion projects for existing machinery and systems

What We're Looking For

• Completed apprenticeship in electrical engineering, electronics, mechatronics, or comparable qualification; alternatively, a degree in electrical engineering, automation engineering, or related field
• Practical experience in PLC programming within an industrial environment
• Strong knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal and/or Step7
• Experience in commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimizing machinery or systems
• Solid technical understanding of the interaction between control technology, electrical systems, and mechanics
• Ideally, knowledge of HMI, drive technology, and fieldbus systems such as Profinet, Profibus, or EtherCAT
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally, with occasional work outside standard business hours
• Good German or English language skills
• Independent, solution-oriented work approach and enthusiasm for hands-on technical work
