Category Manager Coins & Banknotes

Responsibilities

As Category Manager for Coins & Banknotes, you will own a large, commercially significant category with global reach and cyclical market dynamics. Working with our talent team, the person in this role will:

• Define and execute the long-term growth strategy for a high-value product category rooted in history, scarcity, and investment-grade objects
• Own P&L performance and steer revenue, margin, and commercial decision-making with discipline and clarity
• Translate complex data into clear, actionable commercial priorities that drive sustainable growth
• Lead, coach, and develop a large international team of experts as direct reports, creating accountability and stability
• Anticipate and respond to market trends, seasonality, and investment shifts in a dynamic, target-driven environment
• Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with key suppliers and sellers, holding ground in negotiations while preserving long-term partnerships
• Strengthen the supplier pipeline in close partnership with sales functions
• Work cross-functionally to unlock long-term, scalable growth across the category

What We're Looking For

We're representing a client in the online marketplace sector, and they need a senior commercial leader with a steady hand and proven results in consumer goods markets. The ideal candidate brings:

• Proven experience in consumer goods markets with a deep understanding of market dynamics, cycles, and volatility
• Experience managing larger teams and multiple direct reports with a track record of coaching and accountability
• Strong seller or supplier relationship management experience, including complex commercial negotiations
• Senior leadership presence: calm, grounded, and decisive under pressure
• The ability to hold ground in commercial discussions while maintaining long-term professional partnerships
• Strong analytical skills and comfort owning significant P&L responsibility
• The ability to cut through complexity and focus on what truly drives impact
• Confidence influencing senior stakeholders across the organisation
• Experience operating in dynamic, target-driven environments with measurable outcomes
• Interest in coins, banknotes, history, or collecting is a plus
