Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential digital agency seeking a Technical Product Owner specializing in AI and automation. In this role, you will serve as the internal expert and driver for all AI initiatives across client projects.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with project owners and managers to identify AI opportunities within client engagements, developing use cases that deliver measurable business value
  • Assessing feasibility, effort, and business impact of proposed AI solutions, including knowing when AI is not the appropriate solution
  • Building functional prototypes using LLMs, RAG architectures, agent workflows, and automation tools such as n8n or Make
  • Writing technical solution concepts that development teams can implement directly
  • Configuring custom chatbots for client projects, developing MCP interfaces, refining prompts, and ensuring output quality
  • Establishing AI infrastructure, tools, processes, and standards across the organization
  • Training product owners and developers on AI best practices until standard use cases can be handled independently
  • Creating evaluation frameworks for AI use-case decisions in coordination with leadership
  • Participating in client meetings when AI expertise is required, and providing backend support to other product owners on AI-related questions

What We're Looking For

Technical Requirements:

  • Demonstrable, long-term technical foundation with hands-on software development and/or systems architecture experience; web and digital technologies must be your established domain, not a recent pivot
  • Multiple years as a Product Owner, technical project lead, consultant, or senior developer with client-facing responsibilities, ideally in digital agency or consulting environments
  • Solid understanding of modern web architectures including API-first design, headless systems, REST/webhooks, and integrations with CMS, CRM, and ERP platforms
  • Production-level proficiency in Python or TypeScript; you build your own prototypes
  • Practical AI experience with LLMs, prompting and context engineering, RAG, and automation tools—whether gained professionally or through personal projects
  • Real-world experience with agile methodologies, not just theoretical knowledge
  • Fluency in German is required for client communication

Personal Attributes:

  • Ability to translate technical capabilities into business value for both executive stakeholders and development teams
  • Proactive mindset—you identify opportunities rather than waiting for assignments
  • Creative in use-case generation, seeing possibilities where others see obstacles
  • Pragmatic judgment to prioritize practical value over spectacle
  • Collaborative working style with comfort in iterative brainstorming and refinement

What You Don't Need:

  • Extensive professional AI experience—your technical foundation plus demonstrable AI practice matters most
  • People management experience from day one; leadership responsibilities will grow as the department expands
  • Mastery of every AI tool; intellectual curiosity and eagerness to learn are essential

To be direct: candidates without genuine technical depth in software development will not succeed in this role.
