Sr. Software Engineer, Platform

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization seeking a Sr. Software Engineer, Platform to join their Search and Data Services team. This is a fully remote position based in the United States, requiring at least 4 hours of overlap with Central European working hours (candidates in US Eastern or Central Time zones are typically the best fit).

In this role, you'll power critical search capabilities that thousands of businesses depend on daily, managing large datasets with thousands of transactions per second. Your work will focus on building the next generation of large-scale search and reporting services, evolving systems to scale 10x beyond today's load.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve search infrastructure and data pipelines with a strong focus on scalability, testing, and maintainability
• Develop streaming data reports pipelines and improve search relevancy, data indexing, and cost control for high-throughput, event-driven systems
• Participate in the full development lifecycle from design and implementation decisions to testing strategies and backlog prioritization
• Collaborate across engineering through code reviews and architectural discussions
• Provide engineering support when issues escalate, using customer insights to improve the product
• Build new features and improve existing systems using technologies including Elasticsearch, ClickHouse, Kafka, Flink, RabbitMQ, MySQL, and PostgreSQL
• Partner with the talent team to interview and hire future teammates

What We're Looking For

• Backend engineering expertise in Java/Kotlin (full-stack experience is a bonus)
• Proven ability to build scalable, maintainable, and readable software that balances business goals with customer needs
• Strong ownership mindset across the full development lifecycle, from early design through production monitoring
• Deep care for production readiness including automation, reliability, resilience, monitoring, alerting, and logging
• Experience with large-scale data systems and search technologies (knowledge of Elasticsearch, ClickHouse, or Solr is a plus but not required)
• Collaborative team player who enjoys sharing knowledge, mentoring others, and contributing to technical decision-making
• Clear and confident communication skills in written and spoken English for remote collaboration
• Availability for at least 4 hours of overlap with Central European working hours
