Bengali Document Specialist – Fully Remote | Upto $12/hr

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI research organization seeking a Bengali Document Specialist for a fully remote contract role based in Ireland. Our client is building cutting-edge multilingual datasets and needs native Bengali speakers who can annotate, transcribe, and structure complex documents with precision.

Responsibilities

• Source publicly accessible Bengali PDF documents in assigned categories that contain multimodal elements such as images, tables, diagrams, or handwriting, and document their origin
• Annotate document structure by identifying and bounding every meaningful region—titles, headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, figures, diagrams, captions, formulas, questions, and answer fields—assigning component types and reading-order indices
• Record structural relationships by linking regions to their parent components (figures, tables) through identifier systems
• Transcribe all text exactly as it appears in Bengali script, including handwritten content, with character-level accuracy; flag any illegible regions
• Capture comprehensive page metadata including language, document type, source, dimensions, and presence of tables, formulas, and handwriting
• Perform end-to-end peer review of colleague annotations as an experienced reviewer

What We're Looking For

Must-Have:

• Native Bengali speaker with complete mastery of Bengali script, diacritics, and conjunct forms
• Professional experience with documents in areas such as annotation, transcription, translation, localization, subtitling, proofreading, journalism, or regional-language data review
• Ability to deliver exact character-level accuracy—a single incorrect diacritic is considered a defect
• Systematic application of taxonomies across hundreds of pages
• Comfort working with unfamiliar and complex layouts including multi-column newspapers, exam papers, and handwritten forms

Preferred:

• Experience with regional-language AI data projects: annotation, labeling, grading, or bilingual evaluation for training datasets
• Background in transcription and localization: MTPE, subtitling, bilingual QA, OCR correction, or post-editing
• Document production experience: typesetting, copy-editing, proofreading, or digitization of Bengali-language materials
• Knowledge of Bengali script and encoding: Unicode normalization, Bengali input methods, numeral-form and character-form accuracy
