Forward Deployed Engineer (m/f/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential software-as-a-service organization that is transforming operations in a traditionally underdigitized sector. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will spend significant time on-site with end users—observing workflows, identifying friction points, and rapidly building solutions that address real operational challenges.

Your day-to-day will include:

• Embedding with client partners to observe how work actually happens—at desks, in vehicles, and on job sites
• Building full-stack features and AI-powered agents that automate manual processes such as pricing, lead qualification, and operational workflows
• Owning production systems end-to-end, including reliability, evaluation frameworks, structured output handling, and graceful error recovery
• Defining your own acceptance criteria and prioritizing what to build based on direct user feedback and measurable impact
• Iterating rapidly—sometimes multiple times per day—based on what you observe in the field
• Measuring success through concrete metrics: hours saved, automation rates, and response times

What We're Looking For

Our talent team is seeking someone who has owned features or systems from architecture through delivery and post-launch iteration. You should be comfortable working across the stack and motivated by solving real problems rather than mastering a particular framework.

Must-have skills and experience:

• Production experience building and deploying LLM-powered features, including evaluation, context management, structured output parsing, and error handling
• A track record of shipping software that real users depend on
• Comfort building across backend (Python, FastAPI, async SQLAlchemy, PostgreSQL, Celery, Redis), frontend (Vue 3, TypeScript, Vite), or mobile (Flutter) environments
• High agency and the ability to define scope, make tradeoffs, and drive work forward with minimal direction
• Strong problem-solving skills paired with intellectual humility

Nice to have:

• Experience with AI infrastructure including Anthropic or similar models, vector search, and pgvector
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, or similar cloud infrastructure
• German language skills (the team works in English, but many end users communicate in German)
• A preference for direct user contact and the ability to change your mind based on customer feedback

This role is based in Berlin and involves regular on-site work with partners.

Compensation details will be discussed during the screening process and are competitive with top-of-market rates for this role in Berlin. Equity participation is also part of the package.
