About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential SaaS organization based in München. We are seeking a Data Protection & AI Governance Advisor to join a small, high-impact team responsible for privacy compliance, data governance, and AI regulatory frameworks. This role offers direct influence over how privacy and AI systems are designed, documented, and controlled across both product and internal operations.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Support business functions in documenting data processing activities and maintain processing registers under Art. 30 GDPR
- Prepare Data Protection Impact Assessments, Legitimate Interest Assessments, and Transfer Impact Assessments
- Advise product and engineering teams on privacy-by-design principles, data minimization, access controls, tenant separation, deletion protocols, and SaaS product compliance
- Review data processing agreements and conduct preliminary assessments of new vendors and AI tools
- Operate and maintain the data protection management system, including policies, templates, controls, remediation tracking, and governance platforms
- Build and maintain an inventory of AI systems; classify systems under Art. 6 and Annex III of the EU AI Act; determine organizational role as provider or deployer
- Contribute to the approval process for AI initiatives; develop criteria, gates, and decision templates
- Prepare mandatory AI documentation covering risk management, data governance, bias testing, technical documentation, human oversight, logging, and transparency obligations
- Review AI models and services for contractual commitments related to training use, data retention, and alignment with customer assurances
What We're Looking For
- Minimum three years of professional experience in data protection, with substantial exposure in a second-line function such as privacy coordination, compliance, governance, or external advisory with comparable audit responsibilities
- Demonstrated experience conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments, Legitimate Interest Assessments, and Transfer Impact Assessments
- Strong working knowledge of GDPR at the article level, familiarity with EDPB guidelines, and understanding of case law on international transfers and controller/processor responsibilities
- Documented exposure to AI governance and the EU AI Act—examples include AI system classification, evaluation of LLM-based features, model or bias reviews, transparency notices, or contribution to AI policies (full AI Act expertise not required; readiness to develop depth in role is sufficient)
- Structured, reliable work style with high attention to detail in documentation
- Fluent German and English (negotiation level)
- Preferred: completed legal studies and certifications such as IAPP CIPP/E, CIPM, or AIGP
- Valid EU work authorization required; visa sponsorship is not available for this position
