Genomics Researcher – Fully Remote | Upto $100/hr

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI research organization seeking a Genomics Researcher for a fully remote contract position based in Germany. Our client is building the next generation of AI systems capable of tackling complex scientific challenges, and they need domain experts to help push these models to their limits.

This role focuses on designing computational problems that test AI capabilities in single-cell genomics and bioinformatics. You'll create sophisticated benchmarks using real scientific software, requiring 15–20 hours per week of independent, high-level work.

Responsibilities

• Design challenging computational problems to evaluate AI systems using real scientific software and workflows
• Create problems requiring skilled use of specialized bioinformatics libraries for single-cell analysis, RNA velocity, spatial transcriptomics, and topological data analysis
• Evaluate and refine problem sets through iterative testing loops against state-of-the-art AI models
• Develop scenarios that require strategic experimental planning and structured queries to uncover hidden patterns in data
• Work independently to incorporate feedback and continuously improve problem design quality
• Write Python-based problem setups and solution validators

What We're Looking For

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Graduate-level training in a relevant STEM field (MS, PhD, or equivalent research experience)
• Proven proficiency with scientific software libraries demonstrated through research publications or professional work
• Strong Python programming skills for developing problem frameworks and validators
• Ability to work independently and refine designs based on feedback
• Comfortable working in Linux/terminal environments with remote compute sandboxes

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience across multiple bioinformatics domains or computational tools
• Familiarity with benchmark or evaluation design methodologies
• Background in scientific teaching or designing exam/problem-set materials
• Experience with computational reproducibility and containerized environments
