Role Overview
As a CDL Driver with Wasteconnections, you'll operate commercial vehicles to transport waste and recyclables throughout the region. This role is essential to our mission of providing dependable waste management services to residential and commercial customers. You'll work independently on assigned routes while adhering to all safety protocols and company standards.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Operate a commercial vehicle safely and efficiently on assigned collection and delivery routes
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of your vehicle to ensure mechanical soundness
- Collect waste and recycling materials from customer locations, following proper procedures
- Maintain accurate records of pickups, routes, and any incidents or vehicle maintenance needs
- Interact professionally with customers and address any service-related questions or concerns
- Follow all traffic laws and company safety policies to ensure on-time, incident-free deliveries
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of your assigned vehicle
Skills & Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for the vehicles operated
- Clean driving record and ability to pass background and medical checks
- Strong knowledge of traffic safety regulations and defensive driving practices
- Physical ability to perform the demands of the role, including repetitive lifting and extended periods operating a vehicle
- Reliable attendance and punctuality on assigned schedules
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
- Ability to work independently while following detailed route instructions
