Embedded Linux Consultant – Japan

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential open-source software organization with a global footprint in enterprise Linux and embedded systems. We are seeking an Embedded Linux Consultant to join their Japan-based field engineering team, working with mission-critical industries including automotive, medical devices, industrial systems, robotics, and telecommunications.

This is a remote position based in Japan, preferably in the Tokyo or Osaka area. The successful candidate will work with cutting-edge embedded Linux technologies and engage directly with enterprise clients to architect, deliver, and support solutions for connected devices and IoT applications.

Responsibilities

• Engage with customers during presales activities to gather technical requirements and present solutions
• Develop and elaborate technical solutions for prospective clients in embedded Linux environments
• Participate in delivery of embedded Linux projects, ensuring successful implementation and customer satisfaction
• Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers, providing expert guidance on Linux-based embedded systems
• Convey market and customer requirements to internal stakeholders to drive product development
• Collaborate on development and refinement of solutions to unlock new market opportunities
• Travel up to 30% of the time for customer meetings, team events, and industry conferences

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field
• Extensive Linux experience (Debian or Ubuntu distribution knowledge preferred)
• Solid embedded Linux experience with build systems such as Yocto or Buildroot, or RTOS experience
• Fluency in at least one of: Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust
• Professional written and spoken English
• Professional-level proficiency in Japanese (speaking and writing)
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with both technical and business audiences
• Result-oriented mindset with ability to manage multiple priorities
• Strong commitment to meeting deadlines and customer commitments
• Humble learner with quick study capabilities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in customer-facing technical roles
• Understanding of low-level Linux boot processes, BIOS, and firmware development
• Experience with security and reliability requirements in embedded systems
