About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology consulting firm in Dresden seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join their team. Our client works at the intersection of emerging technologies and enterprise systems, delivering innovative solutions for their customers. This is a hybrid role offering the opportunity to architect and build cutting-edge data platforms from the ground up.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop on-premises data platform architecture and components
  • Build and integrate systems for data orchestration, deployment automation, and platform management
  • Create proof-of-concepts leveraging modern tools including AI-assisted development approaches
  • Implement batch and streaming data pipelines along with platform services
  • Deploy and manage workloads on Kubernetes with S3-compatible storage solutions
  • Evaluate and integrate data cataloging and versioning solutions into the platform
  • Collaborate closely with lead architects, infrastructure teams, and security specialists

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science or comparable qualification
  • Multiple years of hands-on experience with Kubernetes infrastructure and Linux operating systems
  • Strong knowledge of modern data platform architectures (Kappa, Medallion) and both batch and low-latency streaming pipelines
  • Practical programming skills in Python, Golang, SQL (MPP), Bash, and Java
  • Experience with data platform tools and technologies such as S3, Apache Iceberg, GitOps workflows, NATS.io, Risingwave, Dagster, Spark, Kafka, Flink, and Airflow
  • Cloud-native mindset with expertise in Linux containers and Kubernetes
  • Analytical thinking, agile approach, and strong problem-solving orientation
  • Excellent written and verbal German language skills for client communication

Nice to have:

  • Previous experience as a Data Scientist
  • Track record building edge-deployed data platforms without public cloud dependencies
