Senior Accountant (w/m/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential IT services organization seeking a Senior Accountant to join their finance team in Köln. In this role, you will independently ensure reliable financial accounting operations and provide sound financial data for decision-making.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing day-to-day financial accounting activities, including posting transactions, account reconciliation, and resolution of discrepancies
• Monitoring monthly intercompany reconciliations
• Recording and monitoring provisions, accruals, and other year-end relevant transactions
• Contributing to the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements under HGB (German GAAP)
• Serving as the central point of contact for external auditors and other external stakeholders
• Executing VAT pre-registrations and other statutory reporting requirements
• Actively participating in the optimization, development, and digitalization of accounting processes

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will bring:

• A successfully completed business administration degree or completed commercial apprenticeship
• Strong knowledge of HGB accounting standards and experience preparing audited HGB financial statements, with confident interaction with auditors
• Several years of professional experience in general ledger accounting, ideally in a mid-sized or international environment, with some group accounting exposure
• Proficiency with SAP S/4HANA and MS Office, particularly Excel
• Fluent communication skills in both German and English, with enthusiasm for an international work environment
• Attention to detail, enjoyment working with numbers, and a team-oriented, hands-on mentality
